Buddha's Birthday Celebration

When Buddha said that he has never born nor gone, why do we celebrate his birthday? It is entertaining where there is no entertaining.

On Buddha's birthday, we will celebrate the very enlightened one who is always seeing, hearing, talking, feeling and doing all other things when our flesh never can do anything by itself. We celebrate the one who comes to the world from our within to save all suffering beings. Buddha means Enlightened One. May 20th, Sunday, 2007 is all beings' eternal teacher Syakyamuny Buddha's 2551th annual Birthday. We will have Ceremony of his coming to the world at Dharma Hall in Baltimore Zen Center. Please come and celebrate your original self who is shining eternal light through the whole universe 24/7. Also, at the ceremony, we will have 9th annual Precepts Ceremony. When we take the Precepts, we receive a Kasa and become a Blue Mountain Sangha Member. As such, we become full members of our Zen community. 1) Visit the Baltimore Zen Center (near BWI Airport in Severn, Maryland) for the Saturday Night Retreats from 7:00-10:00 pm.


2) Try the Potomac Zen Sangha's Beginner's Class (in Alexandria, Virginia) on Monday nights, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.


3) Visit the Patriarchal Zen Society (in Manhattan, New York City).


4) Visit the Colorado Zen Center near Denver, Colorado.


5) Attend the DEEP MEDITATION NIGHT at Potomac Zen Sangha (in Alexandria, Virginia) every 2nd Friday of each month. Always a great opportunity to work on your Koan!


6)Practice Zen in the great outdoors! DEEP KOAN SAMADHI CAMPING TRIP Friday, June 30 - Monday, July 3 in Greenridge State Forest in Western Maryland.
